Sanchez not for sale, insists Wenger

According to the Daily Mirror, the Chile global will hand in a transfer request next week in order to push through a move to the Etihad Stadium.

The striker posted a picture on Instagram on Friday with the one word caption 'sick.' He had been given permission to return to pre-season training late after helping Chile to the Confederations Cup final in Russian Federation.

Following an extended holiday due to his Confederations Cup involvement he was supposed to report in today.

Alexis Sanchez is ready to hand in a transfer request to force through a move from Arsenal to Manchester City.

The Sun however reports that the club is not sure he will return after he posted an Instagram selfie claiming to be "sick" and his representatives then saying he has flu.

Manchester City are thought to be heading up domestic interest in the 28-year-old as Pep Guardiola looks to reunite with the former Barcelona striker.

His Emirates Stadium future remains up in the air as he enters the final season of his current contract, with talks on a new deal seemingly at an impasse.

But Wenger, who has been clear he will keep Sanchez at Arsenal and risk losing him for nothing at the end of the season, insists the attacker will stay, although his return has been postponed until Tuesday. But Gunners boss Wenger, speaking after his side's 5-2 thrashing of Benfica in the Emirates Cup on Saturday, made it clear Sanchez will not be sold.

"We were in touch with him and his doctor".

"Your job is to be suspicious and is built on mistrust and my job is built on trust!"

"There's no problem except he won't come back tomorrow, he'll be back on Tuesday. He has flu and that's a question of normally four or five days".

"There's no development - he is staying, of course".
