Carrie Fisher, Stan Lee Honored in Emotional Disney Legends Ceremony

Bob Iger, Walt Disney chairman and CEO, speaks during the Disney Legends Awards at the D23 Expo fan convention at the convention center in Anaheim, California, the United States, on July 14, 2017. "Instead, I got to take her. Disney made you feel that no matter where you came from, you were welcome". At this weekend's D23 Expo, a reception was thrown to honor this year's inductees, with Carrie Fisher's tribute being one of the most emotional of the whole event. "The good and the bad!"

Carrie Fisher's daughter Billie Lourd has shared a touching acceptance speech on behalf of her late mother after she was honoured posthumously with a Legend award from Walt Disney. "We would fight - but we loved each other". They said "Oh we're giving you this thing" and I was like "Oh ok thanks" and they were like "No, you don't understand". He explained, 'there was a comfort level with each other.

"As far back as I can remember, my mom and I have been Disney fanatics".

Established in 1987, the Disney Legends Awards used to be an annual private event.

"I want people to start putting crows in the merchandise, because those crows sing the song in Dumbo everybody remembers", she said, referencing the tune "When I See an Elephant Fly". Iger read out a letter from her daughter, the actress Billie Lourd, who is now filming the FX series "American Horror Story". The announcement says by adding Disney Legend to her honors, she becomes the only "LEGOT" in the world. We went to Disneyland so much that I now realise she might have even loved it more than I did.

The other Disney Legend honorees this year include Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill of "Star Wars", comic book legend Stan Lee, actor-director Garry Marshall ("The Princess Diaries", "Pretty Woman"), "Lion King" director Julie Taymor and Oprah Winfrey, who was Goldberg's co-star in "The Color Purple".
