Ava DuVernay shares first look at “A Wrinkle in Time”

After DuVernay joined as director, the star-studded cast was revealed: Chris Pine, Oprah Winfrey, Mindy Kaling, Reese Witherspoon, and 12 Years A Slave's Storm Reid as the protagonist, Meg Murray.

The Disney film adaption of author Madeleine L'Engle's A Wrinkle in Time received its first trailer today during Disney's D23 conference. The book centers around a young girl named Meg Murry who, alongside her gifted five-year-old brother, Charles Wallace, and friend, Calvin O'Keefe, go on a insane adventure through time and space to find Meg's father, Dr. Alex Murry. DuVernay previously directed Selma and the documentary 13th.

Head of Production from Disneys live action studio Sean Bailey introduced the cast and launched the trailer.

Copies of the poster were presented to the crowd as Winfrey parodied her famed talk-show giveaways by yelling: "Everybody gets a poster!" Who, and Chris Pine who is just coming off his appearance in "Wonder Woman". Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. This is a great first look and I can't wait to see more. Reid, 14, said working on the film was an awesome experience for her. Ms Reese and Mindy, you guys are fantastic and you made me feel like you were my mom on set. During her presentation at D23, she described the movie as "a family story wrapped in an epic adventure, where you see worlds you've never seen before". Zach Galifianakis and Gugu Mbatha-Raw will also be featured in the adaptation, but were not present for the event.
