Texas A&M's Myles Garrett takes off his shirt to reveal a Cleveland Browns shirt while standing next to his mother, Audrey Garrett, left, after he was taken as the No. 1 pick in the NFL football draft, at Terre Verde Golf Course in Arlington, Texas, Thursday, April 27, 2017.

Browns executive vice president of football operations Sashi Brown said he knew two weeks ago who the team would select. Garrett has been tied to the Browns at No. 1 since the 21-year-old declared for the draft on New Year's Eve.

"Watching him on tape I just feel like he'll be an immediate impact player and I just feel like he'll be a guy that we could have rushing the passer for years to come", Haden said of Garrett in a recent interview.

The NFL draft will begin in about an hour in Philadelphia.

Altogether, eight of the first dozen picks were offensive players, including Houston trading up for Clemson QB Deshaun Watson. This is a franchise that isn't afraid to go off the rails take risks based on needs.

The Texas A&M star defensive end is the first defender to go first overall since Jadeveon Clowney in 2014. Each team has 10 minutes "on the clock" to make their pick in the first round.

The 49ers then took defensive end Solomon Thomas, who played his college career at nearby Stanford.

The Browns had their eyes on North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky, a local kid who grew up a Cleveland fan, but he was surprisingly selected at No. 2 by the Chicago Bears.

"It was insane", Trubisky said. "I didn't think I was going to be picked until the commissioner said my name".

Another LSU player, safety Jamal Adams, was taken by the New York Jets, one pick after Tennessee, needing an upgrade at wide receiver, selected Corey Davis of Western Michigan.

Garrett, a freakish athlete who has been accused of sometimes taking plays off, could help change that. The order is based on how the teams finished a year ago.

The Chiefs traded their first- and third-round picks this year and their first-round pick next year to the Bills to grab Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes with the 10th overall selection. "He embodies everything we look for in a Cleveland Brown".

'"I really didn't have to convince anybody of anything", he said. Many people believe that he has been running the league as a dictator, and doesn't seem to care much about others than himself.
