My Two Cents: Nashville Predators Poised for Epic Night

Nashville Predators goalie Pekka Rinne, of Finland, makes a stop against the Chicago Blackhawks during the first period in Game 3 of a first-round NHL hockey playoff series, Monday, April 17, 2017, in Nashville, Tenn.

At times during overtime of Game 3, the Predators applied relentless pressure, and the game would have ended a few minutes earlier if not for a brilliant Crawford save on Fiala in which he kicked a would-be goal away with the blade of his skate. Filip Forsberg leads Nashville with two goals, Ryan Johansen has four assists and Kevin Fiala has 10 shots on goal.

Fiala slipped a backhander past Corey Crawford as Nashville fought back from 2-0 down to seal a dramatic 3-2 victory in Nashville.

Nashville rallied from two goals down in the third period to tie the game then beat the Blackhawks 3-2 in overtime to take a commanding 3-0 series lead.

"That's good for him, a young kid in a big situation like that", Nashville coach Peter Laviolette said of Fiala scoring his second career playoff goal.

"I think it's the type of penalty - that stuff was kind of let go all game", said Bruins left wing Brad Marchand.

The Predators have never won the first three games of any playoff series, and they got here by outscoring the Western Conference's No. 1 seed 9-2. Mike Hoffman added two goals for Ottawa, with Derick Brassard scoring the other.

Patrick Kane didn't mince words after the Chicago Blackhawks suffered one of their most embarrassing playoff losses of this decade Saturday 5-0 against the Nashville Predators.

Eleven of 24 postseason games have gone to overtime in the first round, including all three games between Toronto and Washington and two between Ottawa and Boston. They can lose the race.

"That line, they've got quick sticks and they've got some quickness and they've had a [good] group the whole last part of the year", Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said Tuesday. "We're going to have to come together as a group and do it together". Carrie said, "You learn how important that family time is, and to be able to spend time and carve out some of that and maybe get to go on vacation and maybe get to go on a cruise - that stuff is so important to, like I said, make time for family".

Fiala's victor came after he had missed two golden chances in overtime. Neal found Fiala positioned perfectly between four Chicago defenders, but Crawford was just able to get his pad on the puck.

Say, what's up, er, down with the once-mighty Chicago Blackhawks? "I'm just happy we won".

Though the singer opted for combat boots instead of skates, she was decked out in a Predators jersey - No. 12, worn by husband and team captain Mike Fisher, of course.

Chicago eventually was going to score, despite Nashville's attempt to prevent it. The first goal came from Dennis Rasmussen at the 1:05 mark and was assisted by Marcus Kruger and Richard Panik.
