Richard Simmons Hospitalized With 'Severe Indigestion'

Richard Simmons has been hospitalized for "severe indigestion", his rep tells ABC News.

Simmons had reportedly been battling discomfort while eating for a few days and chose to go to the hospital on Monday.

Richard Simmons was reportedly hospitalized earlier this week for digestive issues but according to his manager is already feeling better.

Richard Simmons has been hospitalized.

Speculation over Simmons' well-being began after he suddenly vanished from the public eye three years ago. Catalano has previously denied allegations that Simmons' housekeeper, Teresa Reveles, is holding the elusive star hostage in his Hollywood Hills mansion.

For his part, Simmons has mostly stayed out of the rumor mill, but his family has assured reporters that his health is fine and that he just needed some time to himself to recover from surgery on his knee.

The New York Daily News quoted Mauro Oliviera, Simmons' former masseur and assistant, as saying: "I feel that Richard is now being controlled by the very people that he controlled his whole life". But it was time for me to take some time to be by myself.

In a statement to ET, Catalano said that the yet-to-be-released products would be "consistent" with Simmons' "message and mission". For the last 40 years I have been traveling, teaching classes, and I had a knee injury, so I had a knee replacement, which was very hard for me...

Lenny added, "After 40-some odd years, he just decided that he wants to rest".
