Tottenham 26-year-old delivers injury update on Twitter after Southampton win

They trail league leaders Chelsea by 10 points.

Like Pochettino's Tottenham, Southampton are a club with a clear philosophy.

Southampton are the last team to win at White Hart Lane (May 2016) and Pochettino is adamant his players deserve praise after surviving a second-half fightback to tighten their grip on second place. "Yes, you will always miss your main striker but what we can do if he is injured is to win the game and score goals". Liverpool matchup is very tempting to analyze, we have made a decision to switch our focus on the 2nd ranked Tottenham who will host the 10th ranked Southampton at the White Hart Lane.

Writing in his weekly column for Sky Sports, former Arsenal star Merson said: "I think Tottenham will be OK without Harry Kane for one or two games, but over a longer sequence of games, I do not think it will be so good".

The visitors had threatened during the first half and when James Ward-Prowse got them back into it on 52 minutes, they pressed on to the front foot.

Southampton have kept only one clean sheet in their last 25 away league games against Spurs (0-0, Jan 2001), with Paul Jones in goal for Saints that day.

Losing Walker to injury would be a major blow for Tottenham in their pursuit of domestic success this season, having already lost a number of key players to injuries.

Saints manager Claude Puel expects the pair to be flying at White Hart Lane on the back of their maiden global calls.

Spurs are the only side in the English top-flight yet to suffer a defeat on home soil this season. "We conceded two goals without being under pressure".

"They have beaten a lot of teams, especially at home, so we need to concentrate and play to our ability that we are capable of".

Pochettino expects the pair to seize their chance: "This is a great opportunity for Vincent and Sonny to play more in the starting 11".

Tottenham had other flickers in the first half, among them Alli's spin and shot, which went straight at Fraser Forster, and Toby Alderweireld's header from an Eriksen corner that drew an excellent save out of the goalkeeper. It is noticeable that the Saints have significantly improved over the last period, but we will see if it is going to be enough on Sunday afternoon.
