Hindutva Poster Boy to UP CM: A Quick Guide to Yogi Adityanath

After the rout comes the vacuum Congress is leaderless in UttarakhandMore

Analysts are likely to interpret Yogi's selection as the chief minister as the RSS' flexing its muscles and influencing BJP's decision-making, but frankly, it does not matter if Prime Minister Modi or the RSS are on the same page or not. "As a friend of the Bisht family, Chander Prakash Lakhera says, it is great news and we are overjoyed with the development".

After an astounding victory in the Assembly polls, the BJP is in the process of deciding the chief ministerial candidate for the politically crucial state.

Commenting on BJP leaders' statements that development will be the party's main agenda in UP, Jha said: "Development is only a facade for actually pursuing the Hindutva agenda in India".

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh will be attending the swearing in ceremony of UP chief minister to be held on Sunday (today) at Lucknow.

Naidu said, "This is a historic win". Interestingly elections in all these constituencies were held because BJP MLAs had become MPs. He said that the top priority of the new government will be development and good governance. "It is our determination to not to let the atmosphere of Uttar Pradesh deteriorate", he told ANI. One community is allowed to spread anarchy.

Adityanath is said to have provoked over 20 incidents of communal violence. The hands of such leaders appeared to have been forced by him. The second criminal case was registered when Adityanath and his Vahini laid siege to the town in January 2007, burning mosques, houses, buses and trains, claiming that the Gorakhnath temple had been attacked.

The other important aspect is that there are two deputies for Adityanath that too when the mandate is so big for BJP.

Observers questioned whether Adityanath would continue pushing his "Hindutva", loosely translated as "Hinduness", ideology as chief minister. It would have also silenced his critics who have spared no effort to project the PM as anti Muslim. Adityanath said the latest Census figures confirm that the rising population of Muslims is a "threat to Hindus".

Often caught in controversy because of his speeches, Adityanath allegedly led a "purification" drive for conversion of Christians to Hinduism in 2005.
