'Doctor Who' Series 10 Trailer Released by BBC

Doctor Who Bill and Doctor

With the much-anticipated tenth series of Doctor Who just one month away, the BBC have released the first proper trailer for the run - and it's jam-packed full of monsters, mayhem and time-travelling goodness. It looks like Pearl Mackie will bring a lot of comedy to the show.

The Twelfth Doctor's final days are close, and BBC has given us a tease of what's to come. The Doctor (Peter Capaldi) is an alien Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey who travels through all of time and space in his TARDIS with his companion.

Joining Capaldi and Mackie in the upcoming season will be returning cast member Matt Lucas as Nardole, the character he portrayed in the 2015 Christmas episode, "The Husbands of River Song", and last year's Christmas episode, "The Return of Doctor Mysterio". The former "Doctor Who" star was even asked whether he could be back as the Time Lord in the next season, but Tennant clarified that he would not reprise his role in the British sci-fi show.

Doctor Who returns to BBC One on Saturday 15 April. Showrunner Steven Moffat is also on his way out, and will be replaced by Broadchurch scribe Chris Chibnall in Season 11.

"Oh, there was me - a little flash of me - so you know there's something good happening", Gomez quips, before concluding with her own spin on the new series' tagline.

Capaldi recently announced he is leaving at the end of the year after three seasons. The "Doctor Who" Season 10 air date is on April 15 at 9/8c on BBC America.
