TJ Lang signs 3-year deal with Lions

Lang's impact in the run game was also felt through T.J. Montgomery's smooth transition from wide receiver to running back late in the 2016 season.

Lang, who has spent his eight-year National Football League career with the Green Bay Packers, made his first Pro Bowl last season at age 29.

Lang is from the Detroit area and played in college at Eastern Michigan.

For all we obsess over marginally improving all the areas the Lions were weak in 2016, at the beginning of March I wrote the Lions' biggest need is simply to get and keep Matthew Stafford healthy.

Lang made a name for himself through his toughness during 8 seasons in Green Bay.

For now, the Seahawks are just a Joeckel ahead of where they were on the offensive line at the end of last season, with a draft low on top blockers coming up next month. In addition to the foot injury, Lang underwent hip surgery in late January. It might be even after the draft when Lang is signed, although that's kind of a worst-case scenario for him, not one that's too likely: He's too good of a player to go that long without a team. Tackle Jason Spriggs filled in for Lang previous year and might be the default starter.

"I'll definitely be ready by training camp", he confirmed.

"I'm ready to get it done with", Lang told WXYZ early Sunday. "No doubt about it".

Adding Lang completes general manager Bob Quinn's overhaul of the team's offensive line in little more than a year.
