Jahlil Okafor to rejoin 76ers for Wednesday's matchup against Celtics

Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers- 2/15/17 NBA Pick Odds and Prediction

Jahlil Okafor has rejoined the Philadelphia 76ers and is available for Wednesday's game against the Boston Celtics, according to Philly.com's Keith Pompey.

Okafor is a talented player and Philadelphia knows that. "When I'm not traveling with the team I was expecting something to happen".

"I'm trying to focus on playing basketball", Okafor said.

The New Orleans Pelicans and Chicago Bulls were teams considered to be interested in the center's services, and Hoopshype's Alex Kennedy reported the Trail Blazers and Nuggets were also in discussions.

The 76ers continued to have trade discussions with several teams, including the Pelicans, but it doesn't appear a deal involving Okafor is imminent before the All-Star break begins.

"I thought it would be a good chance", said Okafor, responding to being asked if he thought he was gone. And based strictly on his on-court play, Okafor is the logical odd-man out.

It was rumored in the days and hours ahead of the 2016 NBA Draft that Okafor would be dealt to Boston in exchange for the No. 3 overall pick (which the Celtics eventually used to select swingman Jaylen Brown), but those talks between Celtics boss Danny Ainge and the Sixers' Bryan Colangelo broke down.

Okafor has been the subject of intense speculation as the NBA's February 23 trade deadline nears.

Brown is correct about how professionally that Okafor has handled the situation, something that you can't really say about the organization. "They didn't tell me I was certainly out of the door, just that it was a possibility".

He credits coach Brett Brown and everyone in the Sixers organization for that. "Right now, I'm back with the team and I'm ready to play tonight".
