Trump's Hollywood star vandalized

A man who identified himself to a local news agency as James Lambert Otis, said he vandalized the tribute with a sledgehammer and pickaxe, originally meant to remove the entire star from the sidewalk on Hollywood Boulevard.

Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President Leron Gubler says it will take several days for the fixes to be completed.

A video obtained by Deadline Hollywood and posted online Wednesday showed a man wearing a hard hat and a safety vest taking a sledgehammer and then a pickax to the star.

The man identified himself to Deadline as Jamie Otis and claimed to be trying to mine the star in order to auction it off and raise money for the women who have come forward with sexual assault allegations against Trump - women whom the presidential candidate has said he plans on suing after the election. Once a star has been added to the walk, it is considered a part of the historic fabric of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Otis said that he originally meant to remove Trump's star and auction it off to raise funds for the 11 women accusing the presidential candidate of sexual assault. Trump has denied the allegations.

Trump, who starred in the reality shows "The Apprentice" and "The Celebrity Apprentice", received his star in 2007 in the television category.

"He was banging on the star", Gregory Howie said.

It was not immediately clear if the vandalism was done in reaction to Trump's presidential campaign.

Trump's Hollywood Walk of Fame star has been targeted repeatedly since he first became the Republican front-runner and eventual nominee in the presidential race. Earlier in the campaign process, activist groups erected a wall with barbed wire around the star to emphasize their opposition to Trump's immigration policies. "People can make a difference by voting and not destroying public property". Earlier this year, one Los Angeles street artist built a mini wall around the star - a nod to Trump's plan of building a wall between the US and Mexico.

It has been stomped on and on one occasion someone spray-painted a swastika and "mute" icon on it.
