Instagram Expands 'Stories' Feature to Explore Tab

Facebook has brought Messenger Day to Australia

Heads up, Instagram users: The Explore section is getting some new content: Stories.

This means that if you have a public account, your Instagram stories-like any photos and videos you post to your main feed-could appear in some random person's Explore section, which you may or may not be down with.

Instagram has started displaying Stories atop the Explore tab in a bid to get more people to tune into its two-month-old clone of Snapchat Stories.

Back in August, Instagram introduced a new "Instagram Stories" feature, allowing Instagram users to post temporary images and videos to their profile. Instagram populates the Explore section with content it thinks you'll like, based on the content you normally interact with. That's a lot (the same number viewing Explore, though not necessarily the same people). However, those Stories are from your friends and others you follow. For those who may have missed it, Stories are a collection of photos and videos made by users, just like you would find on Snapchat. Starting today, you'll begin to see Instagram Stories on Explore.
