Philadelphia Eagles Carson Wentz not ready for week one

Over the years, teams have been known to throw their high-draft pick rookie quarterbacks in the mix right away, but it appears Pederson is leaning towards having Wentz learn from the sidelines in his first season. "It's hard right now to look down the road, but if we had to play this week, Carson would be down".

It's certainly not common for said team to also re-sign their previous season's starting quarterback, plus add a third QB, in that same offseason. He'd be deactivated. That's probably the direction we're heading, I would think is going that route.

Coach Doug Pederson said Wentz may be the third-string quarterback in Philly, which means he could be inactive on game days.

Few quarterbacks are more intriguing from a fantasy football perspective heading into the 2016 NFL season than Eagles signal caller Sam Bradford. When Pederson was asked in the spring if he'll allocate series in games for Wentz like Andy Reid did for Donovan McNabb in 1999, Pederson said he can't see that happening with Daniel on the roster as the backup. The 23-year-old shot up draft boards after strong performances on the pre-draft circuit, but played at the FCS level with North Dakota State. In that scenario, Wentz's only hope to be active on game days is to either pass Bradford or Daniel on the depth chart, or more likely, for one of that pair to suffer a major injury. Daniels was a nice insurance policy for the organization, but the clear expectation is for Wentz to develop and be the starter in Philly for years to come.

Meanwhile, Wentz possesses the kind of size and athletic ability that gets fan bases excited - and impatient.
