IKEA recalls safety gates, extensions for fall hazard

The gates were sold from the IKEA website and in usa stores from 1995 until last month.

- IKEA is recalling about 80,000 safety gate and gate extensions sold in the USA due to a falling hazard to children.

IKEA advises customers to stop using the products immediately and return to the store for a full refund.

The Patrull Klamma safety gates were previously recalled in May of 2015, CPSC says.

There have been 55 incidents reported worldwide. They are pressure mounted, and a simple spring mechanism allows the gate to fit securely between two panels or along a doorway. They measure about 28 3/4 inches high with an adjustable width from about 28 3/4 inches to 34 1/4 inches.

The gates are marked by an article number on its bottom metal bar.

Importer: IKEA North America Services LLC, of Conshohocken, Pa. All their products were included in the recall. These include 10 injuries that resulted in concussions, cuts and bruises.
