Alabama starting OL Alphonse Taylor arrested, charged with DUI

Another Alabama football player has been arrested this offseason with guard Alphonse Taylor charged with a DUI on Sunday.

According to various reports, including one from USA Today and another from 247 Sports, the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office confirmed this afternoon that Taylor was arrested and is still being held on $1000 bail.

The SEC was front and center last week, with their Media Days taking place in Hoover, AL. Offensive tackle Cam Robinson and safety Hootie Jones were arrested on drug and weapon charges in May, but the prosecution opted not to pursue the charges. The charges were dropped at a later time, leaving the best tackle in the SEC available for the season opener.

However, Taylor's situation might not be neatly wrapped up by game time.

"The senior right guard out of Mobile is listed at 6'5", and has been in the process of trying to earn back his starting position for the Crimson Tide.

The 6ft5, 345-pound player started all 15 games for his team during the 2015 national championship season, but has been told to lose weight by his coach. HC Nick Saban was not pleased with Taylor's conditioning, hence that slight demotion. He helped Derrick Henry win the Heisman Trophy as well.
