Newcastle want to keep Sissoko - Benitez

Sissoko emerged as France's Mr Versatile at the European Championship, where he impressed after a hard season with Newcastle culminated in Premier League relegation.

Rafael Benitez has denied Newcastle have put a £35 million price tag on Moussa Sissoko's head, because the club do not want to sell the France global this summer.

The Magpies will play in the second tier of English football in the upcoming campaign following their relegation from the Premier League last term and, having greatly enhanced his reputation with some impressive performances for Les Bleus at Euro 2016, Sissoko is expected to move on having attracted a number of potential suitors this summer.

The German club have been named in recent days as interested in the French worldwide but they are one of many.

And now German club Borussia Dortmund have joined the race for Sissoko, according to French publication L'Equipe.

However, it looks like the north London duo are going to have to be prepared to dig deep as the Evening Standard claim that Newcastle are trying to demand a mammoth £35m for Sissoko's signature this summer following his superb displays at Euro 2016.

"We do not understand Newcastle. It was agreed that Moussa stayed one more season at Newcastle to help the team".

"He did the best he could".

"We hope Rafa Benitez and Newcastle will be more reasonable again so we can resolve Moussa's future".

"He has always been loyal, he has always respected the club, the fans".

"I want to play [in the Champions League] with Milan because I came here to do that but unfortunately we did not get that step". We are fully aware of their approaches.

"We want everything to go well". Now we have to wait.
