Us Election 2016: Trump To Announce Running Mate On Friday

Donald Trump met privately with IN governor Mike Pence inside the governor's mansion on Wednesday - and brought his influential children along - as speculation over Trump's final vice presidential pick reached fever pitch.

If Trump chooses another candidate, local political experts say that's not necessarily bad for Pence.

For Pence, the decision came just in time. IN law stipulated he had to decide by Friday whether he wanted to run for governor or for vice president, as he can not run for both.

Pence is running for re-election, but IN law prevents him from seeking two offices at once.

Mr Kushner and Mr Trump's children have played important roles in the campaign. Earlier on Thursday, a Trump adviser cautioned Trump's leaning could change.

Romney, who spoke out during the primaries urging the party not to nominate Trump, is not appearing, but his running mate, House Speaker Paul Ryan, will speak.

Trump's official announcement is expected Friday in NY at the Hilton hotel in midtown Manhattan.

Top Trump officials urged caution as the process played out.

Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort tweeted: "Re: @realDonaldTrump VP selection, a decision will be made in the near future and the announcement will be tomorrow at 11am in NY". "He will be making a decision in the future. and will be announcing his Vice Presidential pick tomorrow at 11am as planned".

"They know each other", one unnamed source close to Trump told Politico.

"Pence would be a very good pick from the standpoint of having federal and state government experience, and also he has been a card-carrying member of the conservative movement his whole life", Black said.

CNN first reported the arrangement for Gingrich's trip. Pence earned a degree in history then went on to get his law degree and work in private practice as a young man.

Christie has become a close advisor to Trump ever since he dropped out of the presidential race and endorsed him.

According to IndyStar, Pence, 57, is dropping his re-election bid as governor to join Trump's presidential race toward the White House. "That's something Trump has to personally sort through".

Conceding her outspoken criticism of Donald Trump was "ill advised", Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg apologized Thursday in an effort to quiet mounting complaints that she improperly crossed a line into partisan. Christie is in New Jersey while Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) in IN on Wednesday - all three are reportedly on Trump's short list for VP.

In the meantime, at least one group is taking no chances at guessing who will be Trump's running mate.

He did, however, tell CNN's Manu Raju: "I'm a big supporter of Pence". "Compare that relationship to Pence, who Trump has interacted with five times and who endorsed Trump's rival two days before the IN primary that Trump won by 18 points".

Multiple other media outlets, including the Indy Star in Pence's home state, also confirmed the selection.

All three of the finalists have had extensive conversations with Trump and his family in recent days.

Polls taken this spring showed Pence's lead within the margin of error. Is this a sign that the IN governor will be giving the vice presidential speech?

A number of other Republican lawmakers, business leaders, and celebrities are also slated to appear.

Prior to serving as Indiana's governor, Pence served in the House of Representatives from 2001 to 2013.

Harry Reid, the top Senate Democrat, had sharp words for Trump, regardless of who he selects.
