Allyson Felix crosses the finish line to place first in the 400m final during the 2016 US Olympic Tr ... On day one she finished second in all her events except the shot put, typically her worst event, where she placed 17th. She's a former 10,000-meter national champion who was one of the pre-race favorites at the trials in that event.

Biles will be joined by defending Olympic champion Gabby Douglas, three-time Olympic medalist Aly Raisman and newcomers Madison Kocian and Laurie Hernandez to form a team that will arrive in Brazil as the gymnastics equivalent of the Dream Team that Michael Jordan led to basketball gold 24 years ago, long before any members of Team USA were born.

"I hate that she's not on the team in 200, but she made the team in the 400", said Bowie, who also qualified for the US team in the 100.

It wasn't. McLaughlin, a soon-to-be senior at Union Catholic in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, finished third on Sunday, behind victor Dalilah Muhammad and Ashley Spencer.

The photo finish showed Prandini had finished third by one one-hundredth of a second. Muhammad's time is the fastest in the world this year.

"She's super-consistent as a racer", said her high school coach, Mike McCabe.

The last 16-year-old to make the team was 100-meter hurdler Rhonda Brady in 1976. With four laps to go, Hall made a move to third place, but it was short lived.

And so, she started slow, never made up ground against victor Tori Bowie or second-place Deajah Stevens and could not hold off Prandini, the former University of or star who had to wait about 30 seconds to see the result for third place go up on the board.

That's because he already had completed the Olympic standard jump of 7 feet, 6 inches.

Gabby Douglas, the 2012 Olympic all-around champion and member of the gold-medal-winning US team at those Games, will be heading to Rio despite a rough performance at squad trials here. Hellena Wrappah represented Ghana in the 200 meters at the 2000 Olympics, while Ganna Demydova competed in the triple jump in 2012 for Ukraine.

"I feel disappointed. This whole year - that had been what I was working for and so for it to end here it's disappointing", Felix said when asked about the end of her double bid.

Now retired and serving as a volunteer assistant at UCLA (where she's also a student), Wieber doesn't believe she was overworked, calling her injury "inevitable" after thousands of hours in the gym.

This will be Huddle's second Olympic appearance. Centrowitz finished fourth at the London Games. Runner-up Robby Andrews and third-place finisher Ben Blankenship also are headed to Rio.

In the men's 400m hurdles, Kerron Clement upset in-form rival Johnny Dutch to win in 48.5sec.

The field for the men's basketball event at the Rio Olympics is set.

The outcome revealed Sunday night was bittersweet for Ashton Locklear. Cory Joseph scored 20 for Canada.

Croatia defeated Italy 84-78 in Turin, and Serbia defeated Puerto Rico 108-77 Saturday in Belgrade.

Douglas is attempting to become the first reigning Olympic all-around gold medalist to return for the next games since Nadia Comaneci in 1980. But then she won gold in 2012.
