UFC 200: Brock Lesnar beats Mark Hunt in return to the octagon

But that didn't stop "The Beast" from pulling off a win over Mark Hunt at UFC 200, Saturday night at the T-Mobile Center in Las Vegas.

Nunes begged Tate and UFC bosses Lorenzo Fertitta and Dana White for the title shot, quickly thanking them and saying she told them she was worthy after getting Tate to tap out 3 minutes, 16 seconds into the first.

Daniel Cormier beat Anderson Silva in convincing fashion as he picked up a unanimous decision.

Finally, the women's bantamweight title changed hands for the fourth time in eight months tonight in a bout between Miesha Tate (18-6) and Amanda Nunes (13-4). "If I want to make that decision and keep fighting, I will".

The third frame was Lesnar at his best as he wore Hunt (12-11-1) down and threw a bunch of vicious strikes as he earned a 10-8 score from all three judges who scored the bout 29-27 to Lesnar.

Longtime Patriots guard Stephen Neal, who took on Lesnar in the 1999 NCAA heavyweight wrestling championship, has said he believes Lesnar could have made it in the NFL if he had jumped straight into football after his college wrestling career, as Neal did.

Tate almost missed the two-hour window to weigh in on Friday morning for her fight against Amanda Nunes.

"I am honored to share the Octagon with the one of the greatest fighters of all time", Cormier said.

Tate will be headlining her first ever UFC event and she has been with the promotion for over three years. In the first round Lesnar was able to control Hunt and get him to the ground repeatedly and at will, but couldn't finish the fight with the ground-and-pound.

Jose Aldo (26-2) took home the interim featherweight belt in a bout against Frankie Edgar, setting up his rematch with absentee featherweight champion Conor McGregor.

Also, second-ranked former heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez opened the pay-per-view portion of the card with a first-round TKO of seventh-ranked Travis Browne.

UFC 200 was absolutely stacked with stars even before Anderson Silva agreed to replace Jones on two days' notice against Daniel Cormier.

"I wasn't rocked", Lesnar said in response to a question on whether Hunt had him in trouble at any point.
