NFL Playoffs 2016: Predictions, Picks, And Super Bowl 50 Favorites

Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

The last 10 Super Bowls have produced eight different winners -and three of them have been wild cards, even though they've first had to win three games on the road to get there. Everyone from Boston to Santa Clara, Calif., has their opinion on NFL playoff predictions, including us.

The Bengals are playing against the Steelers, one of the hottest teams in football, and are doing so without their starting quarterback Andy Dalton. We went through that previous year, losing in the first round; it's tough. Can't help you.

Want to follow a team that wins Super Bowls more than anyone and whose only success in most any stretch of this century you want to include is surpassed only by the Patriots? They were the last of the 12 teams to claim their place in the play-offs and only did so when the Buffalo Bills overcame the New York Jets last Sunday.

And here are Saturday's clashes... It was November 15 in Week 10 against the Broncos that they were underdogs. The final five games of the season, the former Michigan State standout and reigning Player of the Month completed 73.5 percent of his passes for 1,379 yards, 13 touchdowns and just one interception. With an offense that averaged 408.3 YPG (most in the NFL) and 30.6 points/game (2nd most in the NFL) coupled with a defense that only conceded 321.7 YPG to opposing teams (5th best in the NFL). they have the tools to win it all.

It is often said that defence wins championships and if you were building a championship-winning defence from scratch there is little doubt that Houston's JJ Watt would be one of the first names on the sheet. They include Kansas City (22 years without a playoff win), Washington (10), and Philadelphia (7). They had the two best records in the league, and by common consent are its two best teams. That level of production over a 16-game season would have seen Johnson rush for 1,414 yards and amass another 691 more.

Green Bay's status as a wild card team really shows how they have limped into the play-offs. Green Bay was my favorite to go all the way last summer, but I put too much stock in Aaron Rodgers' abilities as a single human being.

Packers (-1) at Redskins. Kirk Cousins and Co. have won four consecutive games, but they still haven't beaten a team with a winning record.

That leaves either Seattle or Green Bay as the answer. I'm all for making the game better and more fun for fans.

This was a team with a rookie quarterback, a second-year Pro Bowl cornerback and a pair of third-year safeties who were redefining the way their positions were classified in the NFL.

T-1. Cardinals (9-2; Previously 5-1): The high-powered Cardinals face off with the lowest-seedeed winner of the Vikings-Seahawks and Washington-Packers games taking place this Sunday.

All games will be available on phones in the NFL Mobile from Verizon application, which works with Window, iOS and Android phones. Maclin is having and breakout season, but its the defense that has come up big as of late and has limited opponents to 17 points or less in each of their last four games.

Colleague Mike Sando made a compelling case for Palmer as the MVP, noting that Palmer hadn't played a poor game all season (the article was published before Week 17, when Palmer played just a half of Arizona's finale against Seattle).
